Description

Work Habits

* Observes assigned work hours.
* Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance.
* Adjusts to work assignments and/ or schedule changes.
* Perform in a manner that reflects positively on the school.

Performance Responsibilities

* Handles chores for the teacher such as copying, cutouts, etc. when necessary.
* Attends enrichment classes and chapel with students.
* Collects office supplies as needed.
* Checks backpacks for notes, etc.
* Uses "I Care" rules and Conscious Discipline to develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-esteem and self-discipline.
* Establishes a positive relationship with each child's family.
* Able to lead in small group experiences with the students.
* Interacts with the children on the playground.
* Monitors children in the bathroom.
* Sets up supplies for snacks.
* Organizes students for Tiger Pride and brings them to the Tiger Pride teacher.
* Helps maintain discipline during all activities.
* Assists in putting children in cars during dismissal.
* Assists in ensuring the safety of all students in Extended Day.
* May be required to assist in other areas as needed.
* Ensure bathrooms are clean and properly stocked with towels, soap and toilet paper
* Checks work-time room for neatness and cleanliness.
* Disinfects toys, horizontal surfaces, mats for rest time, computer pad and mouse.
* Checks and tidies art supplies.
* Perform all duties as requested.

Training and Experience

* Maintains expertise in assigned areas.
* Participates successfully in professional learning opportunities available to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment.
* Participates successfully in computer training to attain and/or maintain skills necessary to achieve proficiency of performance responsibilities.

Personal Qualities

* Demonstrates a positive attitude toward work assignment.
* Accepts responsibility for work assigned.
* Maintain professionalism in dress, speech and manner.
* Accepts constructive criticism.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to become CPR, AED, and First Aid Certified is required.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces. The noise level in the work environment is often loud.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:

* Minimum of High School Diploma or GED, additional college coursework preferred.
* Additional training/ experience in computer applications desired
* Physically able to perform assigned duties
* Required to maintain current CPR and first aid certification.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of: Age appropriate activities; stages/needs of student development; safety practices and procedures.

Skills/Ability to: Operate standard office machines and equipment, including computers, communicate effectively in oral and written form; effectively operate a computer and use appropriate application software; understand and follow oral and written directions; deal effectively and professionally with students, parents, school employees, and the general public.
