The Role
MQ Health is recruiting for a Registered Nurse to work within our Ward 4 West department, which consist of Cardiology, Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Respiratory and Oncology practices.
At Macquarie University Hospital, we offer extensive cardiac and vascular surgery including Coronary artery bypass grafts, mitral valve repairs, lobectomies and various robotic surgeries.
In this role, you will be tasked with the following:
- Perform comprehensive assessments for patients with cardiac, respiratory, vascular, and oncological conditions.
- Collaborate closely with cardiologists, oncologists, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and allied health professionals.
- Conduct advanced risk assessments, plans interventions, and delivers care that is safe, appropriate and clinically effective.
- Educate patients and their families about disease processes, medications, self-care, and recovery strategies.

To Apply
To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate the below requirements in your CV and a 1–2-page cover letter:
- Experience in Acute Health and key areas such as Cardiology, Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Respiratory & Oncology are highly desired.
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Excellent organisational and time management skills and a proven ability to prioritise and multitask in a fast-paced environment and critical incidents.
- Flexible schedule.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and exercise independent qualified judgement and critical thinking
- Well-developed computer skills including the use of electronic medical records systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and web-based research
Role-Specific Conditions
- Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for NSW (Please provide your WWCC number in your application)
- Registered Nurse/Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- MQ Health Immunisation screening
- This position requires a Criminal History Check
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts
