Job Description
With over 60 years’ experience and 16 dealerships across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales, O’Connors continues to play a pivotal role in the Australian agricultural landscape. O’Connors is seeking for an experienced and self-motivated Assistant Accountant to join their friendly team of professionals at Bendigo, Victoria.
This role will support our finance team preparing financial statements, finalising end-of-month and end-of-year accounts, and other administrative and financial related duties as required by senior accountants. To be considered for the role applicants would need to demonstrate the following experience and skills: Allocating revenue and expenses to the correct general ledger, performing reconciliations, and updating books via ERP daily.
Coordinating the processing, confirmation, and settlement of intercompany transactions, including reviewing the accuracy of intercompany charges. Overseeing stock takes, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring accurate inventory records and financial reporting. Monitoring fixed asset registers, updating depreciation schedules, and assisting with asset revaluation processes.
Ensuring accurate classification and financial reporting of leases, including the calculation of right-of-use assets and lease liabilities, in compliance with IFRS 16. Coordinating with the US finance team to produce accurate segment reports and performance scorecards, ensuring alignment on financial data and KPIs. Preparing for month-end closing by resolving accounting discrepancies, recording journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset depreciation and amortisation.
Preparing monthly account schedules (e.g., prepayment and accrued schedules) and conducting monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Developing budgets and forecasts, and preparing periodic reports comparing actual costs to budgeted expenses. Assisting with the preparation of annual financial statements.
Preparing treasury reports, including cash flow forecasts, debt management, and investment performance, to support financial decision-making. Implementing and maintaining internal accounting controls to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Supporting internal and external audits by providing account analyses and necessary documentation.
You must have the following qualifications to qualify for this role: At least 5 years’ work experience in the same field Knowledge in various accounting software is highly desirable
Intermediate MS Excel skills Demonstrated excellent organisational skills Strong attention to details
