Our organization seeks a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Government Liaison Leader to join our team. This senior leadership role is responsible for managing our government relations and stakeholder engagement.

The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to navigate complex issues and build relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, unions and the broader community.

The role requires strong leadership and team management potential, as well as the ability to influence across various organizational levels and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Business or a related field and a minimum of 10 years experience in government relations, government operations, politics, industrial relations or a similar field.

Proven experience in government relations at a senior level is essential, along with a strong understanding of public policy, regulatory environments, and government affairs.

The selected candidate will be expected to cultivate and maintain relationships with government, industry bodies, and regulatory agencies, advocate in relevant policy and regulatory matters, monitor and analyze relevant political, regulatory, and public policy trends, and contribute to the response to reputational or regulatory challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and execute the government relations strategy in alignment with organisational goals.

Provide counsel to senior leaders and other departments on government relations and stakeholder considerations.

Cultivate and maintain relationships with government, industry bodies, and regulatory agencies.

Advocate in relevant policy and regulatory matters.

Monitor and analyse relevant political, regulatory, and public policy trends.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Build and manage relationships with key external stakeholders.

Lead corporate social responsibility initiatives and community engagement efforts.

Ensure effective internal communications within the organisation, fostering a culture of transparency and alignment.

Issues Management:

Contribute to the development and implementation of communication plans.

Contribute to the response to relevant reputational or regulatory challenges, ensuring swift and strategic action.

Serve as a key advisor to the leadership team during critical moments.

Skills, Competencies, Qualifications and Experience:

Education / Qualifications / Memberships:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Business, or a related field (Essential)

Experience:

Minimum 10 years experience in government relations, government operations, politics, industrial relations or a similar field.

Proven experience in government relations at a senior level.

Strong understanding of public policy, regulatory environments, and government affairs.

Extensive experience working with senior executives, media, and government stakeholders.

Skills and competencies:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strategic thinker with the ability to manage multiple, complex initiatives.

Strong leadership and team management potential.

Ability to navigate and influence across various organizational levels and external stakeholders.

High level of integrity, with a commitment to ethical communications and transparency.
