Job Description
Nine.com.au is looking for an individual who is energetic, engaged and keen to prove themselves in a busy newsroom environment. You must be passionate about entertainment, with a particular focus and knowledge on our shows; MAFS, The Block, Love Island etc.
Day to day activities include:
1. Working closely with the editor to establish a daily content plan
2. Working closely with the editor and video manager to manage the team over the day
3. Assisting the editor with subbing content and content planning
4. Leading the afternoon meetings and running the evening shift - making sure content is subbed and ready to publish, and working with homepage editors in the evening/night if needed
5. Helping with rostering
6. Delegating content and working with the team to create the best content strategy for the shows
7. Managing relationships with publicity to organise interviews with talent for our shows and working alongside social to amplify content’s reach
8. Working closely with producers to produce engaging editorial content that supports our partners 9Now and Stan
9. Pitching stories in line with our editorial strategy that our audience will love
10. Flexibility in shifts, working outside of hours to help with editorial and breaking news
Qualifications
In order to succeed, you will ideally have:
11. Proven experience writing for digital audiences
12. Demonstrated writing skills essential, with proven ability to produce fast, accurate, clear compelling copy
13. Subbing/editing experience
14. An eagerness to watch TV shows, often outside of working hours, to stay up-to-date with our audience
15. Ability to source original news and feature stories
16. Excellent knowledge of the English language, grammar and syntax
17. Strong digital platform skills and a working understanding of all social media platforms
18. Ability to think outside the box and bring fresh ideas to our site
19. An understanding of legal best practices, including defamation laws
20. A passion for reality programs is preferable
21. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is preferable
