About the role
Global Supply Management (GSM) helps American Express maximize the purchasing power of third-party spend by providing strategic consultation, global value perspectives, negotiation, and delivery. Our goal is to optimize supplier spend and free up investment capacity through deeper partnerships with our Business Units.
Strategic Sourcing & Business Enablement (SS&BE) manages our supplier strategy, identifies and on-boards new suppliers, achieves cost savings and revenue generation, collaborates with the Source to Contract team, and ensures an optimal experience for colleagues and suppliers.
The Procurement Associate supports strategic sourcing and category plans in commodities such as Data, Marketing, and Professional Services across Australia and New Zealand. The role involves collaboration with procurement teams in Sydney and globally to identify and deploy strategies that meet business needs, leveraging market intelligence to optimize supply options and costs.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze spend patterns, conduct market analysis, and benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiency.
Identify, collaborate, and execute sourcing and category strategies with Business Partners, ensuring alignment with policies and regulations.
Lead sourcing activities, including negotiations, impacting expenses, revenue, and profitability.
Conduct meetings, provide updates, and ensure project timelines and deliverables are met with stakeholders and suppliers.
Participate in cross-market/regional initiatives as defined by GSM leadership.
Required Skills
Experience in Procurement.
Knowledge of contract law, sourcing strategies, risk management, vendor due diligence, and negotiations.
Project management skills and financial analysis experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Relationship-building skills to manage diverse internal and external relationships across categories.
