The group has a fleet of 120 prime movers, over 450 trailers and 35,000 sqm of warehousing. GTS has a strong reputation in the transport industry due to its focus on customer service, safety and compliance.

We’re seeking a driven Assistant Operations Manager to join our Mildura Depot and support the Melbourne and National Operations Managers in delivering high-quality, efficient and compliant transport operations. This full-time role plays a critical part in optimising fleet utilisation, subcontractor coordination, customer satisfaction, and compliance within a fast-paced logistics setting.

What You’ll Be Doing

* Support day-to-day transport operations to ensure freight optimisation and cost-effective delivery
* Monitor and report on KPIs, fleet usage, food safety, and compliance performance
* Coordinate and build driver schedules aligned with fatigue management and COR regulations
* Liaise with subcontractors and internal teams to drive high service standards and continuous improvement
* Deliver outstanding customer service by responding to delivery enquiries and maintaining professional communication
* Assist with load building, vehicle maintenance scheduling, and pallet control operations
* Provide relief operations coverage and support other depot activities as required

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

* Minimum 3 years’ experience in transport or logistics operations
* Strong leadership, communication and team-building skills
* Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results

Desirable:

* Knowledge of HACCP, Woolworths QA standards and food transport compliance
* Experience in people leadership, industrial relations and WHS requirements
* Solid understanding of transport regulations and compliance frameworks
* Strong computer and reporting skills
* Chain of Responsibility (CoR) training
