Central Australian Aboriginal Congress has been a pivotal force in providing support and advocacy for Aboriginal people since its establishment in 1973. As the largest and oldest Aboriginal community-controlled health organization in the Northern Territory, Congress delivers comprehensive primary health care services to the Aboriginal communities in Alice Springs, surrounding outstations, and nine remote Central Australian communities. The organization adopts a culturally responsive and holistic approach to healthcare, addressing physical, social, emotional, and cultural wellbeing. Congress is committed to promoting justice, equity, and the health of Aboriginal people in the region.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Dietitian located in White Gums, NT. The Dietitian will provide nutritional counseling, create individualized meal and nutrition plans, and deliver medical nutrition therapy. The role involves working collaboratively with clients to achieve health goals, including weight management and nutritional education tailored to cultural needs. The Dietitian will contribute to holistic care by addressing the nutritional aspects of overall health and wellbeing, with sensitivity to the cultural values of the community.
There is outreach travel involved in this position

Qualifications

Expertise in Dietetics and Nutrition
Experience in Nutritional Counseling and Medical Nutrition Therapy
Knowledge in Weight Management practices and strategies
Strong understanding of culturally responsive healthcare approaches
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field
Accreditation as a Dietitian with relevant professional body (e.g., APD in Australia)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Experience working in Aboriginal health, particularly in remote settings, is highly desirable
