Offer description

Armaments & Explosive Ordnance Integration Engineer | Maritime Design Authority & Technical Certification

Location: Canberra (Onsite)
Security Clearance: NV1 (Mandatory)
Engagement: Full-time | 40 hours per week

About the position:

This role provides delegated engineering authority across Armaments and Explosive Ordnance (EO) integration within a Defence maritime shipbuilding program. The focus is on design assurance, certification, and governance not system maintenance or platform operation.

You will act as the subject matter authority for Armaments and EO integration, ensuring engineering outputs align with legislative, doctrinal, classification, and Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO) requirements while maintaining program schedule integrity.

What you'll do:

Conduct design reviews, design acceptance, and technical certification of Armaments and EO integration engineering outputs
Exercise Delegated Technical Authority across weapon system integration and associated vessel interfaces
Identify and formally assess technical, environmental, and safety risks in collaboration with system safety team
Review engineering deliverables, baselines, V&V documentation, and ILS artefacts within contracted timeframes

What we are looking for:

Demonstrated long-term experience in Defence acquisition or shipbuilding environments
Proven background in design or design review of Armaments and Explosive Ordnance systems
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline
Confidence operating within formal engineering governance and certification structures

Seniority fit:

This role suits engineers already comfortable operating under delegated authority rather than contributing as a subsystem engineer
Experience interfacing across multidisciplinary engineering domains is expected
Ability to mentor and guide developing engineers within structured programs is highly regarded

Technology & environment:

Armaments and Explosive Ordnance integration within maritime platforms
Weapon system interfaces across electrical, mechanical, and control domains
Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO) governance framework
Formal design review, certification, and technical risk assessment processes
Defence acquisition program delivery aligned to integrated master schedules

A Quick Note Before You Apply:

This role operates within a structured Defence acquisition program where engineering decisions carry operational and safety consequence
If your experience has been limited to operational sustainment without formal design review or certification exposure, this may not align with current requirements
An active NV1 security clearance is required
The role requires disciplined engagement with governance, safety, and compliance documentation
