Following a major renovation and continued growth beyond expectations, we're looking for an experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen at North Burleigh Surf Life Saving Supporters Club, right on the beach in Miami.
This is a key leadership role in a busy, well-supported venue with strong, consistent trade across restaurant, bar, and functions. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of the kitchen, oversee all kitchen operations and performance, drive standards, and build a team that delivers quality food, every service.
About the Role:
You'll be responsible for the overall running of the kitchen, including ensuring efficient and profitable operations across all service areas. From service and team leadership through to stock control, rostering, and menu development.
We're looking for someone who is hands-on, leads from the front, and takes real pride in consistency, efficiency, and team culture.
About You:
You're an experienced chef who knows how to run a kitchen properly. You're organized, commercially aware, and can keep standards high even when the pressure's on.
You'll bring:
* Proven experience as a Head Chef or similar leadership role
* Strong ability to lead, train, and develop a team
* Confidence managing a high-volume service across multiple outlets
* Solid understanding of food cost, stock control, and wage management
* A hands-on approach and willingness to be on the tools when needed
* Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene.
What You'll be doing:
* Leading day-to-day kitchen operations across all service areas
* Managing and developing a team of chefs and kitchen staff
* Ensuring consistency, quality, and presentation across every dish
* Overseeing ordering, stock control, and cost management
* Planning and updating menus, including weekly specials
* Working closely with management on functions, events, and growth
* Monitoring labour costs, rostering, and wage-to-sales ratios
* Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards at all times
* Maintaining stock control processes, including stock takes and minimizing wastage
