Nurse Practitioner - Career Growth Opportunity

Biio is Australia\'s first medical centre designed for invisible illnesses. The people we serve often live with several intertwined conditions, so we never expect one clinician to carry everything. Instead, we hire into specific pathways and then form small, focused teams around each person, adjusting as their story unfolds.

At the centre is Biiography, our clinician platform that keeps one record, one narrative, and one plan visible to all. It turns each note into shared action the same day, so collaboration is built into the workflow rather than added on top.

We measure recovery in what matters most: standing a little longer, thinking a little clearer, fewer flares, steadier sleep, and more days that feel possible. Our work is about careful steps that hold — progress that patients can trust.

Invitation

If you\'re a nurse practitioner ready to build genuine expertise in invisible illness while being properly supported, this role offers a structured pathway into complex care. You won\'t be expected to know everything from day one — instead, you\'ll join a collaborative team where your observations become shared action through Biiography, our advanced clinical platform. Your role centers on medication management, care coordination, and patient stability, with clear mentorship to develop skills in POTS, MCAS, ME/CFS, and the intersections between conditions. At Biio, you won\'t carry complexity alone — you\'ll practice with the support to learn carefully and the team to act decisively.

Essential Clinical Services

- Repeat prescriptions for established patients following existing protocols
- Basic medication reviews and minor adjustments under senior oversight
- Referrals to specialists and allied health professionals
- Care coordination between team members and external providers
- Clinical follow-ups for routine monitoring and stability checks
- Documentation in our Biiography platform with clear handover notes

What You Won\'t Be Expected To Do (Yet)

- Complex diagnostic decisions or new patient assessments
- Specialized protocols for POTS, MCAS, or ME/CFS management
- Independent management of unstable or deteriorating patients
- Advanced medication titrations without supervision
- Complex case management or pathway-specific interventions

Support Structure

You\'ll receive comprehensive handovers from senior clinicians, have immediate access to medical team support for any complex decisions, and work within clear protocols that define when to escalate care. Your role focuses on maintaining patient stability and continuity, not managing complexity.

Why This Role Matters

For many of our patients, nursing provides the anchor that turns complex treatment plans into lived stability. As a nurse practitioner here, your medication management, care coordination, and clinical oversight directly translate into what patients can do tomorrow: stand with less dizziness, manage flares more effectively, or maintain the stability needed for work or study. This pathway is expanding because demand is high and people are waiting. Your nursing expertise is needed today to bridge the gap between complex treatment plans and daily function for patients who\'ve been dismissed by traditional healthcare.

The Team You\'ll Join

You\'ll practice within the medical team, bringing your clinical oversight and coordination lens to invisible illness care. You\'ll collaborate with colleagues across Specialist & General Medicine, Allied Health, Psychology, Nutrition & Lifestyle, and Patient Experience & Support, so patients experience care as one story, not scattered chapters. When you notice medication responses, symptom patterns, or coordination needs, those observations flow directly into the whole team\'s plan through Biiography, ensuring your nursing expertise shapes every aspect of care.

What You\'ll Learn (That Most Systems Don\'t Teach)

- Clinical Understanding You\'ll learn how invisible-illness pathways intersect in real life — hypermobility with dysautonomia, post-viral with hormonal disruption, neurodivergence with immune dysfunction. Instead of managing symptoms in isolation, you\'ll see how POTS medications work differently in hypermobile patients, how ME/CFS affects medication tolerance, and how hormonal cycles impact treatment responses. That breadth will sharpen your clinical depth.
- Systems Thinking You\'ll practice inside Biiography, our shared clinical platform that carries collaboration without referral chains or endless meetings. You\'ll learn how to move care forward asynchronously: your medication review becomes a team decision, your patient education becomes visible progress, your coordination work becomes seamless handoffs. It\'s a way of working most nurse practitioners never get to experience — distributed, precise, and light on friction.
- Professional Skills You\'ll refine skills that matter in complex care but are rarely taught: designing medication plans that work with energy limitations, communicating clearly about uncertain diagnoses, and coordinating across medicine, allied health, psychology, and nutrition. You\'ll learn to pair humility with confidence — \'I see something here that needs senior input\' — while maintaining therapeutic relationships and clinical oversight.

Who Thrives Here

Essential You\'ll need current AHPRA registration as a Nurse Practitioner, the right to work in Australia, and a scope of practice that includes medication management and care coordination. Strong documentation skills, clear communication, and respect for every patient story are non-negotiable here.

Your Background Might Include We know there isn\'t one single pathway into this work. You may have built your skills in hospital settings, community health, chronic disease management, or complex care coordination. You may have worked with people living with chronic illness, pain conditions, or medication complexity. What matters most is your curiosity about invisible illness, your ability to listen deeply, and your willingness to practice as part of a collaborative team.

What Makes People Thrive Here Nurse practitioners who do well at Biio are those who can balance intellectual humility with clinical confidence. They\'re willing to say \'I need senior input on this\' while maintaining excellent routine care. They\'re communicators who document clearly, collaborators who share observations openly, and problem-solvers who take the smallest safe next step. If you value careful progress over quick fixes, and if you want your work to ripple through a whole team rather than sit in a silo, you\'ll feel at home here.

Learning & Support

If You Want to Grow While this role focuses on routine care, we offer optional pathways for those interested in developing expertise. If you choose, you can access mentorship with senior nurse practitioners, learn about POTS and MCAS medication protocols, observe complex case management, and gradually expand your scope. This is entirely optional — you can provide excellent routine care without specializing.

Professional Development Regular supervision available, access to Biio practitioner digital community, and professional development budget if you\'re interested in conferences or training. For those who want it, there\'s a clear pathway toward independent complex medication management, teaching opportunities, and contribution to protocol development.

The Foundation Role Your primary focus remains routine services that keep patients stable and connected to care. Any additional learning happens at your own pace and interest level — never required, always supported.

Why Choose Biio

The Team You\'ll join a group where hierarchy and silos don\'t block care. Nursing expertise is valued as central, not secondary. The reward is knowing your clinical decisions are acted on — not lost in the system.

The Technology Biiography underpins everything. Instead of juggling disconnected platforms, you\'ll work in one place where patients, notes, and team action stay aligned. That clarity means less admin drag and more time for real clinical thinking.

The Growth At Biio your role isn\'t static. Whether you want to deepen your expertise in specific pathways, expand to new intersections, or step into mentorship, there are clear paths forward. You can grow your craft without leaving the patients you care about.

The Learning Few systems teach invisible illness in a real, structured way. Here you\'ll gain professional development that actually matters: how to practice coordinated care in a team that\'s learning together. This is knowledge you simply won\'t find elsewhere.

Practical Details

Work Mode Telehealth is our default. You\'ll work from home with flexible setup support; occasional team meetings may be offered but are optional.

Hours & Appointments Part-time options from 4 hours per week. Grow your caseload at your own pace. Appointment lengths are 30-45 minutes — and we protect that time. No double-booking, no rushing.

Employment & Pay Competitive contractor arrangements or employment available. Protected admin time for thorough documentation. No overhead concerns — focus purely on patient care.

Pathways You\'ll work across our five interconnected pathways: Connective Tissue & Hypermobility, Dysautonomia, Post-Viral & Immune, Neurodivergent Health, and Hormonal, with structured learning to understand how they intersect.

This role offers the foundation you need to become an expert in invisible illness medication management, with the team support to get you there safely and effectively.
