About the job DevOps Engineer Specialist
As a Network Engineer, you draw on your breadth of knowledge and expertise in related areas of network engineering and actively apply agile and/or lean ways of working to deliver on the following responsibilities:
1. Translating customer needs and requirements into realizable and commercially viable products, services, or systems and/or networks infrastructure.
2. Designing, testing, integrating, and optimizing maintenance of specific complex network technologies, platforms, and/or systems. Diagnose and restore assurance issues to ensure that networks, infrastructure, products, and services work efficiently and reliably (BAU & Rostered).
3. Contributing to ensuring that network components and systems interact with Telstra processes and systems to deliver market-leading customer experiences. You do this by using your expertise and experience of specific domain components to address related incidents, problems, and upgrades to optimize network performance.
4. Contributing to assessing the capability of vendor solutions and offerings to meet business requirements and assist in managing vendor performance and technology delivery.
5. Developing depth/advanced levels of knowledge over a current domain by engaging in continuous learning through formal development, coaching, and seeking feedback.
6. Contributing to the development of technology guidelines and standards to be used by Chapter and/or business unit members in the design and deployment of network technologies.
7. Using your sound interpersonal and influencing skills to authentically collaborate with mission or project team members and stakeholders to deliver defined work objectives.
8. Performing after-hours work on a roster system and participate in incident and security response capability for network infrastructure.
9. Performing approved & planned maintenance changes where required.
Key Skills
1. Network support, testing, and configuration of network equipment: Cisco, Juniper.
2. Sound technical skills in operating systems such as Unix/Linux and ability to script and code to achieve defined outcomes.
3. Experience on one or more of the scripting languages (Python, Perl, ANSIBLE) is highly desirable.
4. Knowledge of GIT (GIT control, version control) is highly desirable.
5. Knowledge of using ANSIBLE playbooks to deploy a bunch of Virtual Machines.
6. Demonstrated written/verbal communication, problem-solving, interpersonal, presentation, and time management skills with an emphasis on technical communication.
7. Able to effectively work through high-pressure and complex situations.
