About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Cook/Chef to join our canteen team on an ongoing basis. The ideal candidate will be confident working in a fast-paced kitchen, preparing fresh and nutritious meals, while maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in preparing and cooking a variety of menu items to meet daily service demands.
* Ensure all meals are produced with strict allergen awareness and safe food handling practices.
* Follow portion control guidelines and support menu planning to minimise waste.
* Maintain excellent kitchen hygiene, equipment cleanliness, and safe work practices at all times.
* Manage stock rotation and contribute to ordering and inventory planning.
* Support cost-control measures through efficient food preparation and storage.
* Work efficiently during peak service periods (short service windows).
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience as a cook, chef, or kitchen assistant in a commercial or school setting
* Strong understanding of allergens and food safety requirements (Food Safety supervisor certificate desirable)
* Ability to multitask and work quickly without compromising food quality.
* Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player.
* Knowledge of stock control, portioning, and cost-efficient food preparation.
* Experience preparing food for catering.
