As an Aboriginal Key Worker, you'll play a vital role in providing crucial placement-based case management support and pre and post-release assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals transitioning into the community.
**Qualifications & Experience**
- Comprehensive understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, alongside a sincere dedication to enhancing outcomes for Aboriginal individuals.
- In-depth knowledge of Indigenous culture, peoples, land, and customs, encompassing an awareness of the challenges encountered by Indigenous individuals and communities.
- Effective communication abilities, adept at engaging sensitively and respectfully with members of the Victorian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
- Demonstrated maturity, adaptability, and empathy towards the requirements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals.
- Capability to collaborate efficiently across diverse program areas and disciplines.
- Insight into the reintegration needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, with established experience collaborating with Aboriginal community organisations to meet these needs.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication proficiencies, complemented by assertiveness and negotiation skills.
- Current National Criminal History Check, or willing to obtain
**Also Desirable**:
- Background in Social Work, Welfare, or Community Services.
- Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in health, case management, or wellbeing roles.
**Tasks & responsibilities**
- Work in public and private hospitals across Victoria and various states including Remote and Rural areas.
- Work in Correctional centres across the Victorian state providing primary care and mental health.
- Review risk and provide support to reduce the impact of illness and enhance the independence of our clients and carers.
- Visit clients at home and in various community and residential settings
