Your New Role
We are seeking an experienced and values-driven Operations Manager to lead and oversee a diverse portfolio of rural and remote community programs across Northwest Queensland. This is a senior leadership role with direct responsibility for programs based in Mount Isa, including:
- Communities for Children
- Homelessness & Homestay Program
- Crisis Accommodation & Reconnect Services
- HIPPY Program
- Cloncurry Neighbourhood Centre
In addition, the role provides operational leadership and senior guidance to multiple regional sites where management is located off-site.
As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will work closely with the Executive Director and colleagues across the organisation to deliver service excellence, staff support, and strategic outcomes that enhance wellbeing and resilience for individuals, families, and communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational management of multiple programs and services across the Mount Isa and Northwest region of Queensland.
- Provide mentoring, supervision, and performance development support for a team of up to 10 staff.
- Ensure services are delivered in line with funding agreements, quality frameworks, and organisational values.
- Provide high-level advice to senior leadership on operational priorities, risks, and opportunities.
- Strengthen stakeholder and community relationships to support service delivery and program growth.
- Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.
What you'll need to succeed
You are a collaborative and resilient leader with a robust track record in human or community services, ideally in regional or remote contexts. You bring:
- A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences) with substantial experience, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years' leadership experience in service delivery, program management, or community services.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex service portfolios.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Cultural awareness and experience working effectively in diverse communities.
- Capacity to travel across the region as required (including overnight stays).
- Current open driving licence, Blue Card, and ability to maintain relevant clearances.
