Leichhardt is an independent, Australian-owned solar salt project headquartered in Perth with operations in northern Western Australia. Our sites include the Lake MacLeod salt operation near Carnarvon and the Eramurra Project, 55km outside Karratha.
About the Role
As a General Works Operator, you will be responsible for maintaining site haul roads, borrow pits, and civil works across site. Duties include opening and closing crystallisers', preparing Gypsum stockpiles for leaching based on site schedules, and supporting civil projects across site.
The General Works team ensures equipment integrity through routine inspections, servicing, and strict adherence to operational procedures. The role also involves monitoring equipment performance, reporting issues promptly, and maintaining accurate records to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.
This is a 4D 5X 5D 4X 5D 5X shift pattern, based out on site at Lake MacLeod working 12-hours per day.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Operate various types of road works equipment, as well as dozers, loaders, side tippers and water carts at a high level of competency.
* Follow work requirements and procedures for each allocated job.
* Carry out standard pre-start, start-up, park-up and shutdown procedures.
* Monitor equipment operations and respond to alerts and alarms.
* Inspect equipment, report faults and perform routine operator servicing, maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
* Maintain and process records and reports.
* Contribute to a safe and healthy workplace.
* Build effective and collaborative relationships with team members and stakeholders.
What We're Looking For:
Experience: Previous mining experience (salt and gypsum processing is an advantage) and exposure to marine or related industries.
Ability to:Operate a range of heavy mobile equipment (HME) and dozers to a high standard, perform basic HME/dozer maintenance, carry out basic fixed plant maintenance, understand risk assessment and risk management principles (advantageous), and work as a team player in a dynamic working environment.
Skills:Excellent communication and organisation, ability to identify improvements and work autonomously, self-sufficient and able to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks.
Certifications & Licenses:Minimum C Class Driver License, working at heights, operating machinery certifications (e.g. dozers, cranes, forklifts), maritime safety training (e.g. STCW and first aid).
