The Team:

Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital, and the Adult Diabetes Centre within the RHH is the tertiary referral centre and a member of the National Association of Diabetes Centre in Southern Tasmania. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Role:

Demonstrates a strong interest and advanced knowledge in all areas of diabetes and diabetes management.
Interested in enrolling or completed a postgraduate qualification in diabetes management.
Provides specialists nursing expertise within a multidisciplinary team to support people living with diabetes including families and carers.
Provide specialist nursing expertise within a multidisciplinary setting to assist people with diabetes and their families or carers.
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary framework of THS-S setting, acting as a clinical resource for internal and external healthcare professionals to promote safe, evidence-based diabetes care.
Contributes to and/or initiates evidence-based quality improvement activities that are evidence-based aimed at enhancing clinical practice, service delivery and diabetes-related health outcomes.

You will need:

Highly developed contemporary knowledge and skills in chronic disease and self-care management practices with recent clinical experience, or demonstrated interest, in diabetes management.
Demonstrated advanced interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with people with diabetes and their caregivers, work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and act as a preceptor to members of the team.
Highly developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills with the ability to prevent and manage conflict.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 30 March 2026.

notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $109,767 to $115,813 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

Credentialed with the Australian Diabetes Educators Association (CDE)
Member of the ADEA or other relevant professional organisation(s)
Holds, or is working towards, a relevant postgraduate qualification
