About the role

Join us as a Medium Rail Plant Operator in V/Line's Network Development, Assets, and Maintenance Group! Reporting to the Civil Maintenance Supervisor, you'll operate medium-category trucks and machinery to help maintain the 500 kilometres of track along the Bendigo line.

In this hands‐on role, you'll assist in replacing track components like sleepers, rails, and ballast while prioritising safety.

Key Accountabilities

• Loading and unloading equipment for transportation.
• Taking full responsibility for the truck and plant, ensuring maintenance and servicing are completed as required.
• Participating in the replacement of rail components such as track, ballasts, and fastenings, and performing general maintenance and cleaning.
• Ensuring that all operations comply with safety standards.
• Assisting the team with manual labour tasks when not operating plant and machinery.
• Occasionally working overtime, being away from home, traveling to different locations, and working different shifts.

About you

• Hold a Certificate II Rail Infrastructure or be willing to obtain it within the first 6 months of employment.
• A valid medium rigid (MR) Truck License is Essential.
• Excavator experience with the required competencies.
• Availability to commit to 4 days on, 3 days off. Tuesday to Friday, 7 AM - 4:30 PM; Saturday to Monday off.
• Backhoe, excavator and front-end loader experience with the required competencies are desirable.
• Experience in rail or civil is advantageous.

The remuneration for this position is $44 per hour, plus penalty rates in accordance with the V/Line Asset Management Enterprise Agreement 2023.
