The operating theatres is a very busy and fast paced environment. We are looking for candidates who are self‑starters, someone who takes initiative and who is able to deal with many competing priorities and a large number of stakeholders. The ability to plan and prioritise their workload in a busy clinical environment, as well as accomplished administration experience.


About The Role

As a key member of our Surgical Services and Theatre team, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high‑quality patient care. You will help ensure our surgical and perioperative areas run smoothly and efficiently. You will also be involved in supporting the Theatres Management team with the transition and relocation to the new John Hunter Acute Services Building, a state‑of‑the‑art facility, opening in 2026.

Key Responsibilities

A typical day as a Clinical Support Officer at John Hunter Hospital involves a variety of responsibilities that contribute to the efficient operation of the unit. This role involves managing competing priorities, so strong multitasking skills are essential.

* Support our clinical team with the administration to ensure positive healthcare outcomes for our patients and visitors to the theatres suite.
* Provide support to the Nurse Unit Managers and Theatres management team with rostering, recruitment, audit and data entry and reception duties.
* Complete meeting agendas, write minutes and assist with any other tasks required of the Nurse Unit Manager.

About You

* A proactive and adaptable team player with strong attention to detail
* Experience in an administrative or clerical role, ideally within a healthcare setting
* Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and confidence using hospital systems and Microsoft Office
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Passionate about supporting frontline health services
