Overview
Based at the Coates Eagle Farm branch, the Leading Hand is responsible for leading a team of mechanical staff in the safe and efficient maintenance, service, overhaul and repair of our range of hire equipment and machinery in line with trade practice and internal standards.
What you'll do
* Lead and promote Coates Safety First - Zero Harm safety culture.
* Work with the Branch Manager to understand customer priorities and align service and maintenance work and resources to achieve those priorities.
* Ensure the team has a clear understanding of day-to-day work priorities, branch KPIs and job responsibilities.
* Ensure the team is equipped with the skills and knowledge required to effectively and safely service the broad range of hire equipment and machinery in the branch.
* Ensure appropriate stock levels of spare parts are available.
* Ensure all relevant paperwork is accurately completed for service or repair work; maintain service records.
* Minimise operational downtime of equipment.
* Perform preventative maintenance, servicing, and overhaul of a range of plant equipment.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical faults.

What you'll bring to the role
* Relevant Trade qualifications
* Experience with petrol and diesel motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical skills
* Troubleshooting, diagnostic, and preventative maintenance skills
* Driver's licence (essential)
* Forklift and EWP tickets (desirable)
* Experience leading a team
* Experience in a workshop or service environment
Requirements & details
Permanent full-time position, Monday to Friday roster – 7am start. Based at the Eagle Farm branch; salary and penalties apply.
