Health, Safety and Training Coordinator
We are seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety and Training Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating health, safety, and training initiatives across Whynot Bord and Pillar Underground Operation.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to take on a challenging role that involves overseeing compliance with statutory and site-specific safety requirements, maintaining training records and competencies, facilitating site inductions, and promoting a proactive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage compliance to the Safety and Health Management Systems on site and advise senior leadership team on possible improvement initiatives
* Analyse safety results on site and provide knowledge to operations team to improve safety performance
* Understand processes and frameworks within the underground coal mining industry including knowledge of related New South Wales legislation
* Facilitate Critical Risk Assessments and mentor risk assessment process across front line and middle management teams
* Coordinate the Critical Control Monitoring Program
* Engage workforce to encourage a culture of safety and a safe working environment
* Coordinate the maintenance of the Safety & Action Management Data Base
* Report safety statistics to management with detail and rectification plans/actions
* Analyse both leading and lagging safety-specific data and identify negative safety trends requiring attention and rectification
* Assist with audit and inspection programs as required on site
* Lead incident/accident investigations as required
* Monitor implementation of safety programs and participate in safety interventions
* Manage site return to work and rehabilitation programs as primary Return to Work Coordinator for employees
* Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards as required in NSW coal mining
* Develop and oversee the health and hygiene monitoring program
