The Housing Industry Association is Australia's peak residential building industry body, providing member services, industry advocacy and training for a range of building trade qualifications.
HIA is currently seeking a qualified Trainer and Assessor engaged on an independent contractor basis to deliver accredited training in CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction & CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) for our RTO (HIA Learning, RTO ID:1091).

The successful applicant must have well developed communication skills, be able to work as part of a small team and be flexible in completing a range of related administrative and reporting tasks.
The role offers continuous contact with industry and association members and is an opportunity to contribute to future growth of the HIA Training business.
Key responsibilities include:
* Regular delivery of training and assessment to participants
* Ensure the quality of training and assessment complies with HIA's Registered Training Organisation requirements and the 2025 Standards for RTOs, regulated by ASQA
* Marking and submitting assessment results according to HIA policies and procedures
* Delivery of support sessions (as required) to assist with student learning pathways
* Monitor, evaluate and report on progress to the regional training team/s as required
* Engage in industry forums to inform and promote HIA's training activities
* Participate in regular VET and Industry professional development, as required, to maintain currency as an approved Trainer/Assessor
The successful applicant will require:
* Relevant qualifications in Building and Construction (CPC40120 Cert IV in Building and Construction (Building) or able to demonstrate equivalency, CPC50220 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) or able to demonstrate equivalency, etc) would be advantageous but not mandatory
* Relevant qualifications in Training and Education (TAE40110 / TAE40116 / TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or higher), or meet the current Credential Policy in the SRTOs 2025
* Experience within the building and construction industry
* Well-developed administrative and technical skills
* Communication skills to build and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders
* The delivery of engaging, high‐quality training and assessment that motivates learners, supports practical skill development, and ensures a positive and interactive learning experience.
The following would be advantageous, but not mandatory:
* An understanding of the VET sector and training packages, particularly the CPC Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package.
