**About the Role**
**Position Objectives**
- To assist with and undertake enforcement of the provisions of the Greater Dandenong Planning Scheme and other relevant legislation
- To assist with and undertake effective and efficient liaison with the public and with other authorities to achieve compliance with Council's development standards
- To assist with the administrative support functions of the team as directed
- To manage customer service requests allocated for actioning
- To ensure the delivery of key activities in line with Council's objectives
**About You**
**Specialist Skills and Knowledge**
The essential position requirements include:
- As a specialist employee involved in interpreting regulations an understanding is required of the underlying principles involved as distinct from the practices.
- Supporting more senior employees also requires an understanding of the role and function of the senior employees to whom they provide support an understanding of the long-term goals of the unit and appreciation of the goals of the organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to understand planning and other legislation is essential
- Ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with people at all levels is essential
- Ability to resolve contraventions of the CGD Planning Scheme through engagement, discussion and conciliatory approach to problem solving
- Ability to deliver clear and comprehensive written and verbal information
- Ability to give clear and comprehensive evidence at VCAT and the magistrates' court and other courts of competent jurisdiction
- Demonstrated competencies in word processing and computer literacy
- Ability to work out of hours duties as required
- To assist the Senior Planning Compliance officer to effectively deliver service outcomes
