An exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager - Upstream has become available within the Power Projects division.
The Commercial Manager - Upstream will be part of the commercial team within Downer's Energy & Utilities Power Projects business unit. This role can be located either Hexham, NSW, North Ryde NSW or Brisbane QLD. The successful candidate can envision themselves attending to duties such as:
What you'll do
* Develop, implement and administer the upstream Commercial Management Plans, Manuals, and Registers, required by the Head Contract and The Downer Standard and Delivery Management Methodology
* Be responsible for the timely and effective administration of the Head Contract to ensure that Downer's rights are maintained and obligations fulfilled
* Manage contractual correspondence and communications with the Client associated with the Head Contract
* Implement strategies and contribute to Project Management Plans to ensure Downer's compliance with its Head Contract obligations across the entirety of the Project, not limited to key functions including Procurement, Operations, Health, Safety and Environment, Community and Stakeholder, and Projects Controls
* Manage Head Contract Change, including the preparation, submission and negotiation of upstream Claims and Variations

What we're looking for
* Bachelor's degree in law, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Engineering preferred
* 10 plus years of experience in a commercial role in construction projects preferably within the power transmission / energy sector
* Background in the successful negotiation of forms of contract with an acceptable risk profile in accordance with policies and procedures
* A high level of verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people including managing relationships with external clients / suppliers / contractors, etc
* Background in leadership of complex and comprehensive commercial teams
