About the role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Financial Accountant to join a General Insurance Company in Australia. This is a global underwriting leader providing best-in-class property, casualty and specialty reinsurance and insurance solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Accountant that will be responsible for supporting the financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and ideally having a background in general insurance. Key Accountabilities: Support with the preparation of APRA returns, Monthly balance sheet reconciliation, Monthly reconciliation between insurance systems and the general ledger, Documenting and building/enhancing procedures, Journal entries leading up to month/quarter/year end close, Assisting with the preparation of the quarterly CFO report, Supporting the Finance Operations team with the preparation and lodgement of the various indirect taxes and duties (GST, Stamp Duty, etc), Supporting the Finance Operations team with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, Completing Industry Surveys (ABS), Annual external audit work; answering audit queries, investigation, assisting with sample testing, Quarterly reconciliation between Local results and US GAAP, Support in preparing the annual tax returns and Fringe Benefits Tax Return, Ad Hoc tasks Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Competencies CPA or CA qualified, Minimum 5 years of financial accounting experience preferably within the General Insurance industry, Experience using general ledger systems (Oracle, PeopleSoft, etc), Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
