As the Legal Counsel, you will provide commercial, solution-oriented legal advice that aligns with Canstar Group's strategic goals. This generalist role encompasses a wide range of practice areas, including commercial and technology agreements, financial services, consumer protection, regulatory compliance, and corporate law.

You will be instrumental in delivering practical solutions and advice to various stakeholders, including senior management, while ensuring compliance and managing risks effectively.

Key Responsibilities
* Act as a trusted advisor, offering legal counsel on privacy, consumer, financial services, and intellectual property matters.
* Exercise sound judgement in delivering pragmatic legal advice and managing day-to-day legal queries.
* Draught, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements to enable successful business outcomes.
* Collaborate with the General Counsel in creating and enhancing standard template agreements and preferred contractual positions.
* Navigate regulatory landscapes, advising on compliance with AFSL, ACL, and ACCC requirements.
* Anticipate and mitigate risks associated with disputes, complaints, and incident responses.
* Support the launch of new products by leading legal strategy and providing comprehensive legal support throughout development.
* Build strong relationships across departments, enhancing service delivery and stakeholder engagement.
* Collaborate with internal and external legal teams to address complex legal issues and broaden your network.
* Stay informed on legal developments, proactively updating templates and strategies to manage risk.
* Contribute to a supportive team environment by sharing knowledge and promoting a culture of compliance.
* Deliver engaging legal training to business teams to foster understanding and compliance with legal matters.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in law, with a focus on commercial and financial services. You should be a proactive and solution-oriented individual who thrives in a dynamic environment.

* A minimum of 3 years post-admission experience.
* Current Queensland Practising Certificate or eligibility to acquire one.
* Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
* Knowledge of financial services, privacy, consumer, and intellectual property laws.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
* Proven ability to build relationships with various stakeholders.
* Experience working within legal technology platforms.
* Desire to continuously learn and stay updated on legal and regulatory changes.
* Generalist in-house experience in commercial or financial services is highly regarded.
