Boilermaker / Fabricator / Welder – Cairns (Full-Time) $40–$43/hr penalties overtime super A busy and established industrial fabrication and engineering business in Cairns is seeking an experienced Trade Qualified Boilermaker / Fabricator / Welder to join the team. This is a hands-on workshop-based role focused on structural steel fabrication, welding, and general boilermaker duties. You’ll work in a fast-paced production environment where safety, quality, and teamwork matter. The Role (Key Objective) As a Boilermaker / Fabricator / Welder, your key objective will be the fabrication of structural steel items and associated components, including welding and finishing work to meet specification and production schedules. Key Responsibilities Fabrication of structural steel components to workshop drawings General boilermaking duties including planning, grinding, cutting, welding, polishing, heating, straightening and cleaning Welding processes including FCAW and MMAW (Stick) Reading and interpreting fabrication drawings, work orders and welding symbols Ensuring work is completed to quality requirements and job specifications, including self-checking prior to QA review Completing timesheets accurately and submitting daily Maintaining a clean and safe workspace (clean-up of offcuts/swarf as required) Assisting with training and supervision of apprentices when needed Following direction from the Workshop Foreman / Production Supervisor / Site Supervisor Supporting team productivity and meeting job deadlines About You Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication (Boilermaker) or equivalent trade qualification Experience fabricating and welding structural steel used in building/construction works Ability to read workshop drawings and interpret welding symbols Solid understanding of welding procedures Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and within a team environment Strong attention to detail, time management and reliability Current C Class Driver Licence A strong commitment to safety, quality and attendance Tickets / Licences (Required or Strongly Regarded) Confined Space Working at Heights EWP (highly regarded) Relevant welding certifications Forklift licence (desirable) Personal Attributes A flexible and cooperative team attitude Strong work ethic and pride in workmanship Reliability, honesty and trustworthiness Customer focus (internal and external) Willingness to assist across tasks outside your primary scope when required What’s on Offer $40 – $43 per hour penalties Overtime available up to 52 hours per week Ongoing full-time employment Cairns-based role with local stability Strong team culture and safe working environment
