Miwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. Established in 1992, we’re committed to securing quality health care services across the East Arnhem and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to over 6,000 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 East Arnhem wards. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, Miwatj also manages a Corporate Office in Darwin, 7 fixed clinics across the East Arnhem region, and dedicated outreach teams who travel to 3 additional locations. Salary of $74,571 - $80,252 11.5% superannuation Salary package up to $15,900 pa a further $2,650 pa for meals & entertainment Up to $3,500 relocation assistance through NT PHN Eligible for professional development grants through NT PHN What's the role? Provide clinical and culturally responsive dietetic services to priority groups such as pediatrics, chronic disease, aged care and NDIS clients in Miwatj communities with minimal supervision. Support external community programs (i.e. schools, stores, early childhood stakeholders) by assessing food supply and providing continuous quality improvement recommendations to improve food supply. Work in partnership with stakeholders to implement and evaluate activities that aim to improve the nutritional status of chronic disease clients. Provide expert advice and contribute to the professional development and capacity building of Miwatj staff, including trainee Allied Health Assistants and external stakeholders. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including internal and external providers to ensure best practice clinical and social support for clients including case conferences and telehealth / phone call follow ups. Is this the right role for you? Tertiary qualification in nutrition and/or dietetics and current Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) status with Dietitians Australia (DA). Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture experience working effectively with people of diverse cultural and social backgrounds. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in planning, implementing and evaluating public health and/or nutrition projects. Previous experience working in remote Indigenous communities and willingness to travel regularly to communities in the Miwatj region. Current WWCC, National Police check and NDIS clearance or ability and willingness to obtain - Current NT driver’s license. NT PHN/RWA NT may be able to offer relocation support and clinical educational financial assistance to health professionals who are relocating to the NT or moving within the NT to a greater remoteness area classification for the purposes of employment and further clinical education.
