Rumi on Louth is Australia's newest private-island eco-luxury retreat, located just off the coast of Port Lincoln on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula. We're redefining island hospitality — where intuitive service, genuine connection, and the rhythm of nature come together in harmony.
We're seeking an experienced and hands-on Duty Manager (Level 7) to join our growing island team. This pivotal on-site leadership role supports the Resort Manager and department heads in delivering seamless daily operations and world-class guest experiences.
About the Role
As Duty Manager, you'll be the on-island point of leadership during your rostered shifts, ensuring every guest interaction and operational detail meets Rumi's luxury standards. You'll coordinate across departments, provide guidance to team members, and uphold the calm, confident presence that defines our guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee daily resort operations including Guest Services, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage.
* Lead and support on-island staff to maintain exceptional presentation and service standards.
* Handle guest enquiries, special requests, and service recovery with warmth and professionalism.
* Conduct property walk-throughs and ensure all public and guest areas meet brand presentation standards.
* Manage end-of-day reporting, cash handling, and operational handovers.
* Respond to on-island emergencies and follow company safety procedures.
* Liaise with the mainland operations team on logistics, transfers, and supplies.
* Support recruitment, onboarding, and staff training as required.
About You
You're an experienced hospitality professional with natural leadership ability, impeccable communication skills, and a genuine love for creating exceptional guest experiences. You thrive in a hands-on role where every day brings something different — and where your presence sets the tone for calm, confident service.
You'll bring:
* 4–6 years' experience in a senior front-of-house or operations role within a luxury or boutique hotel/resort.
* Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality or Resort Management (or equivalent industry experience).
* Strong organisational and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
* Proven ability to lead small, multi-department teams.
* RSA and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
* A practical, solutions-focused mindset and ability to work autonomously.
* Flexibility to live and work on Louth Island on a rotational roster (staff accommodation provided).
