The Opportunity
We are on the lookout for an ambitious diesel technician, auto-electrician or dual-trade qualified technician with a drive for success and the commercial aptitude to develop business.
This role balances an office-based technical product support function with hands-on work, including high-level technical repairs, new machine installations, and breakdowns, with travel to sites across Queensland.
In this newly created position, you will support the Industrial Service Market segment from a technical perspective and help develop power solutions for the future, supporting our industrial dealer network and business partners with engines and equipment across Queensland and PNG, including the rollout of electro-mobility technologies as they are established in this market.
The Role
Support the Industrial Service Market team and our dealer network by assisting with and overseeing technical support cases.
Diagnose and repair engines and mechanical systems, overhaul engines, diagnose electrical system issues using advanced technology, and lead the installation of new engines.
Lead electromobility projects, including industrial variable speed engine installations, power generation, battery storage systems, and industrial electric drivelines.
Install, maintain and diagnose control systems on existing and future drivelines.
Assist the sales team with application support and product installation.
Be a brand ambassador for Volvo Penta, ensuring customer success from a technical standpoint.
Visit the dealer network to provide high-technical support and training to technicians.
Support our local OEMs, key accounts and equipment manufacturers with installations, commissioning and testing.
Carry out emergency repairs and deliver excellent customer service.
Attend trade shows where required and support the marine team on projects, including the latest IPS technology.
What You Bring
5+ years' experience with trade qualification in Diesel / Heavy or Light Vehicle, Auto Electrical, technical field Electrical / Electronics and/or Diesel (or equivalent).
Trade experience in Industrial, Marine and Power Generation applications.
Experience with brands such as Volvo Penta, Caterpillar, Cummins, MAN, Scania (desirable).
Exposure to a similar role or relevant position in Diesel Fitter, Heavy Diesel, Electrical or Electronics Technician, Technical Support or Tradesperson development.
Good understanding of 12/24V electrical, plus High-Voltage EV and Hybrid powertrain systems (willing to undertake high voltage training).
Exposure to diesel power generation, water pumping equipment and control systems is highly regarded but not essential.
Safety-conscious with relevant industry qualifications.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with various levels of stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving abilities to diagnose complex issues.
