About the role
We are seeking applications for Ward Clerks to join our casual bank to work across our Acute, Sub-Acute and Aged Care Directorates at Grampians Health Ballarat.
Ward Clerk’s provide frontline reception, clerical and administrative support to the clinical unit, program or service. The role performs a wide range of administrative support tasks to assist and ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the clinical unit / program.
Ward Clerk hours are or – and may include weekend work. Applicants must have availability to work across both shifts.
Casual Bank is managed by the Central Allocations Unit which provides staffing coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Grampians Health uses an electronic rostering system which matches staff for shifts based on their availability. Shifts will be offered on the day of the vacancy or in advance by text or phone call.
Casual Bank allows you have an opportunity to work across a variety of locations at the Ballarat campus around your nominated availability. To maintain your position on Casual Bank, a commitment of 2 shifts per fortnight is required.
Casual bank shifts can be offered within short time frames, therefore to be considered for this role you must be living in the Ballarat region.
You will be required to provide 2 referees that are direct managers / supervisors (including your manager from your current employer).
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide professional reception duties to staff, patients and visitors
2. Demonstrated ability to function within a team
3. Provide a high standard of administrative support
4. Accurate data entry into required software systems
5. Admission and discharge process of patients and residents
6. Willingness to learn and the ability to prioritise tasks
7. Participate in annual performance reviews
8. Commitment to ongoing mandatory education
9. Maintaining accurate availability in our electronic rostering system and accepting shifts based on availability
10. Flexibility to work across a variety of locations and shift times
Skills and experience
11. Demonstrated high level communication to be able to interact with a wide variety of individuals
12. High level computer skills are essential for this role with particular emphasis on accurate data entry
13. Demonstrated person-centred care and respectful approach to patients, visitors and staff
14. Prior experience in a health setting would be advantageous but is not essential
15. Current Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain
16. Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain
