Dominican Education Australia (DEA) was established in 2016 by three congregations of Dominican Sisters – the Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of North Adelaide, the Holy Cross Congregation of Dominican Sisters, Adelaide and the Congregation of the Dominican Sisters of Eastern Australia and the Solomon Islands. DEA oversees the canonical governance of six Education Ministries in the Dominican tradition.
The six entities that make up Dominican Education Australia are: Cabra Dominican College, St Dominic’s Priory College, St Lucy’s School, St Mary’s College, Santa Sabina College, Siena College.
Each incorporated Education Ministry within DEA has a Board of Directors which oversees the management and business of the College/School in accordance with its Constitution.
The DEA Board is seeking to appoint a Board Chair to provide effective leadership, align with the Dominican values, and contribute to the overall success of St Mary’s College.
The successful candidate will possess or demonstrate:
* understanding and commitment to the values and principles of Dominican education, which typically include a strong emphasis on community, service, justice, and truth.
* ability to integrate Dominican values into decision-making processes and leadership style, fostering an environment that reflects the school’s mission and ethos.
* understanding of governance principles and experience in board-level decision-making processes.
* proven experience in leadership. This includes a track record of effective decision-making, strategic planning, and collaborative problem-solving. Leadership experience in an educational setting will be well regarded.
* familiarity with current educational trends and challenges, along with the ability to provide visionary leadership to guide the Board in addressing these issues.
* a proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans that align with a school’s mission and long-term goals.
* visionary thinking to anticipate and navigate challenges, ensuring the College Board remains proactive in its approach to educational leadership.
* strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively represent the College to external stakeholders and the broader community.
