About The Role
This is a pivotal leadership position responsible for the efficient and effective operational management of the hospital after-hours. You will provide clinical and operational oversight, ensuring high standards of patient care, safety, and service delivery across the hospital.
This is a hands‐on role, with the opportunity to support a clinical workload depending on shift requirements. You will work collaboratively with shift leaders and clinical teams, acting as a key point of contact in the absence of the Nurse Unit Manager and other senior clinical managers.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing after‐hours clinical and operational leadership
* Supporting and guiding nursing and multidisciplinary teams
* Ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
* Escalating and managing clinical or operational issues as they arise
* Supporting safe staffing, patient flow, and quality care delivery
* Acting as a role model in clinical practice and professional conduct
This role reports directly to the Director of Clinical Services.
About You
You are a confident, approachable leader who thrives in a fast‐paced environment. You bring strong clinical capability, sound judgement, and the ability to coordinate teams and resources effectively after‐hours.
This role is well suited to an experienced nurse ready to step into leadership or an established clinical leader seeking a broader operational role.
You will demonstrate:
* Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
* Minimum 5 years post‐graduate acute care experience
* ALS certification (or working towards)
* Strong clinical decision‐making and problem‐solving skills
* Demonstrated ability to lead, support and motivate others
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Sound computer skills (MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook)
Highly regarded
* CCU/HDU/ICU or ED experience
* Postgraduate qualifications in a clinical specialty or management
