The Role
We are seeking a Wood Machinist – Edge Bander Operator (Cabinet Making) who is a confident decision-maker, has great instincts to assess situations quickly and accurately. This role requires you to be a great team player who is reliable, prudent and focused on completing the job to the required standards.
In this role, you will be responsible for operating the Edge Banders and CNC machines safely and efficiently, day-to-day maintenance of machines, managing inventory of boards and edging, quality control during machining processes and increasing the efficiency of machining processes.

Key Responsibilities:
Operating the Edge Banding and CNC machines safely and efficiently.
Day-to-day maintenance of Edge Banding and CNC machines.
Setup and installation of new machines.
Optimisation of functionality of machines.
Managing inventory – receiving and storing new deliveries and managing off-cuts.
Quality control of board edged during machining processes.
Increasing the efficiency of machining processes.
Operating woodworking machines and using hand tools to cut, shape and form particle and MDF board.
Communicate effectively with the drafting team, machining team and assembly team members.
Improvement of manufacturing processes.
About You
We are looking for a proactive individual with a passion cabinetry and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have:
Qualifications:
Certificate III in Wood Machining, Certificate III in Cabinet Making and Timber Technology, or equivalent/higher.
Experience:
1 year of experience in operating and maintaining Edge Banding and/or CNC machinery.
1 year experience in Cabinet Making Industry.
Skills:
Skilled operation of edge banding machinery, including maintenance requirements.
Ability to meet production deadlines and use initiative to help with other tasks on manufacturing floor.
Ability to read and interpret job instruction with a strong focus on detail.
Problem-solving skills with a growth mindset.
Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with team members.
Commitment to smart working, continuous improvement, and personal development and success.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles is favourable.
Forklift licence is favourable.
Good organisational skills and stock control knowledge.
Ability to organise a clean and tidy workspace (as safety is one of your values).
Ability to effectively teach and train up other machine operators.
