**The Role**
Centacare's Next Steps program supports young people aged between 17 and 21, who have been placed under the long-term guardianship of the Chief Executive of the Department for Child Protection (DCP) and are preparing to exit care.
The Therapeutic Youth Worker is responsible for working in partnership with young people and other professionals in a multi-disciplinary setting by providing therapeutic case work to support the case management process. They will provide support for young people to function independently through building a trusting professional relationship, practical life-skill development and support specific therapeutic interventions based on strengthening identity and processing trauma.

**What you need to bring**
**Essential**
- Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services or equivalent
- Case Work Experience
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office products
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Child Protection Legislation
- Experience working with vulnerable young people with complex needs and an understanding of the impact of childhood trauma
- Valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check
- Valid Driver's Licence
- Ability to undertake some work out of standard work hours when required
**Desirable**
- Experience using Penelope electronic client management system
- Relevant Human Services degree or working towards
- Knowledge of the care system and resources available for care leavers
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people with complex needs
