Job Details
The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is seeking experienced Enterprise Application/API Developers to develop, support, and maintain scalable, secure APIs across enterprise systems.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
* Collaborate with analysts and engineers to design/develop integration solutions using Azure services (App Services, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Service Bus)
* Design, develop, and manage APIs ensuring reusability, scalability, security, and version control
* Write clean, maintainable integration code
* Conduct code reviews and implement comprehensive testing strategies (unit, integration, regression)
* Monitor and optimise API performance
* Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues
* Maintain detailed documentation for technical solutions and APIs
* Stay current with industry trends and best practices
Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria
* Proven experience as a software developer, with proficiency programming in C#
* Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles and experience with API frameworks and tools
* Knowledge of authentication protocols (OAuth, JWT) and API security best practices
* Familiarity with databases, data structures, and integration patterns
* Experience with API testing tools and methodologies
* Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
Desirable Criteria
* Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure services (App Services, Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus)
* Understanding of GraphQL, SOAP, microservices, or other API technologies
* Experience using CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps
* Familiarity with Micro Focus Fortify, SailPoint, ServiceNow, AWS
