Assistant Project Manager - Client Side

Location: NSW Northern Rivers / Gold Coast
Employment type: Full-time
Salary: Competitive package, based on experience

Build your career with a growing boutique consultancy

This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career project professional to join a boutique client-side project management consultancy with a growing presence across the NSW Northern Rivers and Gold Coast.

Candidates with valid work visas are eligible to apply and will be considered for this role.

The business is young, agile and ambitious, with a down-to-earth team culture and a strong pipeline of interesting work. You will be joining a small but capable team where you will not get lost in the crowd. Your contribution will be noticed, your ideas will be welcomed and you will have the chance to learn directly from experienced project leaders.

The company works across a varied mix of building, infrastructure, community, education, commercial, government and development projects. No two weeks are the same, and the role offers exposure to different project types, locations, stakeholders and stages of delivery.

With projects across Ballina, Byron Bay, Lismore, Tweed and the Gold Coast, this is a great opportunity to grow your career in client-side project management while being part of a business that is expanding and building something exciting.

Travel requirements between project locations will vary by project, with flexibility needed to work across the NSW Northern Rivers and Gold Coast regions depending on your location.

The role

We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager - Client Side to support the delivery of a diverse range of projects on behalf of clients.

Working closely with experienced Project Managers and Directors, you will assist with project coordination, consultant and contractor management, reporting, procurement support, stakeholder liaison and project administration.

This role would suit someone with around 1 to 3 years' experience after completing university, who has started their career in construction, property, engineering, architecture, planning, consulting, local government or project coordination, and is now looking to develop into a well-rounded client-side project manager.

You do not need to know everything yet. What matters most is that you are organised, curious, proactive and keen to learn.

What you'll be doing

Your responsibilities will include:

* Assisting with the planning, coordination and delivery of client-side projects

* Supporting Project Managers with programmes, budgets, reports and project documentation

* Coordinating consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders

* Preparing meeting agendas, minutes, action registers and progress updates

* Assisting with procurement, tender documentation and contract administration

* Tracking project risks, issues, variations and key deliverables

* Attending site inspections, project meetings and stakeholder meetings

* Supporting approvals, governance and client reporting requirements

* Helping keep projects moving by following up actions and communicating clearly with the project team

About you

You will ideally have:

* 1 to 3 years' post-university experience in project coordination, construction, property, infrastructure, engineering, architecture, planning, local government or a related field

* A relevant qualification in construction management, project management, engineering, architecture, planning, property or similar

* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

* Good written and verbal communication skills

* A proactive, practical and positive approach

* Confidence communicating with consultants, contractors, clients and team members

* The ability to manage competing priorities and follow through on tasks

* Competency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook

* A genuine interest in building a career in client-side project management

Previous client-side project management experience would be great, but it is not essential. Candidates from contractor, consultant, design, local government, project administration or graduate project roles are encouraged to apply.

Why this role?

This is a chance to get in early with a growing consultancy and be part of the journey.

You will be joining a fun, supportive and energetic workplace where people enjoy what they do and take pride in delivering good work for clients. The environment is professional, but not corporate. The team is approachable, hands-on and collaborative, with plenty of opportunity to learn directly from experienced project leaders.

You can expect:

* Interesting and varied projects across great regional locations

* A growing business where you can make a genuine impact

* Hands-on mentoring and support from experienced Project Managers and Directors

* A fun, agile and supportive team culture

* Broad exposure across the full project lifecycle

* Real career growth as the company expands

* A mix of office, site and client-facing work

* The opportunity to work on projects that help shape local communities

Location

The role will service projects across the NSW Northern Rivers, mainly Ballina, Byron Bay, Lismore and Tweed, as well as the Gold Coast.

Applicants should be based in, or willing to regularly travel throughout, these regions. A current driver's licence and access to a vehicle will be required.

How to apply

Please submit your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your experience, what you have been working on so far, and why you are interested in building a career in client-side project management.
