Role
Physiotherapists at Nepean School work within a transdisciplinary teaming model, supporting the education of students with physical disabilities and complex health needs. The Physiotherapist will be directly responsible to the Assistant Principal for the provision of physiotherapy services within the transdisciplinary model, will comply with the professional standards and the purpose and values articulated in the school’s Strategic Plan.
Responsibilities
1. to work with the Assistant Principal to maintain the high standard of therapy services
2. to work cooperatively within transdisciplinary teams developing Individual Learning Plans and reports for students
3. to work with transdisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate class based programs that incorporate therapeutic interventions and support student learning
4. to attend and contribute to Student Support Group meetings
5. to contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s Strategic Plan
6. to cater for students physical needs, including mobility aids, AFOs etc
7. to provide comprehensive physiotherapy assessments as identified by transdisciplinary team, range of movement, fitness, gross motor etc
8. to act as a resource for Nepean students integrated into mainstream schools
9. to attend relevant clinics and appointments with students and their families
10. to liaise with and provide support to community agencies and other professionals in relation to student’s equipment needs
11. to maintain personal professional development and provide professional development for school staff
12. to participate in annual Performance & Development program

Location Profile
Nepean School, located in Seaford, is an innovative educational choice offering individualised learning for students with physical disabilities and complex health impairments.
Our transdisciplinary teams work collaboratively with families to identify learning priorities, set goals and develop individualised learning plans for every student.
The transdisciplinary teams at Nepean consist of teachers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, registered nurses (RN1), music therapists and social workers who work together to design and implement engaging learning programs for all students.
These active partnerships ensure every child has the very best opportunity to reach his or her potential. Our transdisciplinary teams walk beside the student and their family on their learning journey, celebrating each achievement and success.
We provide comprehensive Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) for students at all stages of learning, from level A through to VCAL and VET programs. Nepean School uses the Victorian Curriculum to develop learning experiences at each student’s stage of learning. The Nepean School Goal Bank is also used to break down learning goals and identify supports the student may need to reach their goal. Our students have the opportunity to engage in learning across all curriculum areas including English, Mathematics, Information & Communication Technology, History, Geography, Personal & Social Learning, Health & PE, Visual Arts, Music, Dance & Drama, Life Skills, Community Skills, Civics & Citizenship, Design Creativity and our newly introduced STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths).
