About The Role

We’re looking for locals to join Walgett Shire Council as casual Water Meter Readers. This role is a great way to stay active, work outdoors, and lend a hand in keeping our essential water services running smoothly across Walgett and Lightning Ridge. With three key meter reading periods each year, it’s a practical way to contribute to your community. This role involves short-term work (around two weeks, three times a year) reading water meters in Lightning Ridge or Walgett, with flexible scheduling to suit your availability.

About You

Available for short-term work (around two weeks, three times a year) at a time that suits you. You enjoy being outdoors and staying active.You are reliable, cooperative, and able to work independently.You have good communication skills and can interact politely with residents.You’re looking for casual work that fits around your lifestyle, with three main periods each year.You take pride in contributing to essential local services in Walgett and Lightning Ridge.Experience working in a rural or regional context is highly desirable.Most importantly, you align with our values of Respect, Integrity, Ethical Conduct, Courage, Honesty, Accountability, and Responsibility, and are committed to building a positive workplace culture.
