Management Accountant - Business Advisor
We have an opportunity available for a competent management accountant to undertake business advisor duties with a Government department based at Orange. This role will involve working full time hours, initially 100% in-office, with scope to develop to a hybrid arrangement in the future if desired. The position is currently available until the end of August with potential to extend beyond this date for suitable workers.
Key accountabilities of this role include:
prepare and update performance reporting and monthly forecasting analytical models for divisions, entities, and cost centres to support an effective review of business performance and ongoing forecast processes;
identify, provide recommendations, implement agreed reporting, and process enhancements to ensure desired business outcomes for stakeholders are achieved;
assist with the preparation of the annual budget to facilitate the allocation of funding in line with corporate goals and Government objectives;
prepare advice on complex financial and related issues in the form of briefs, reports and papers to respond to Departmental requests for information;
establish and foster productive consultative relationships with stakeholders and clients to support and meet performance reporting requirements and forecasting analytical models;
provide analytical support services to respond to client requests and support business case development and decision making;
identify and deliver finance and related initiatives in partnership with other stakeholders and teams to build performance that supports people and business objectives.
Key challenges of the role:
collecting accurate information and data for the preparation and finalisaton of accurate and detailed budgets, accounts and management reports in a timely manner to meet corporate and internal business customer requirements;
successfully managing all general ledger accounts, month end and year end processes for nominated divisions and entities and reconciling these with financial management reports;
maintaining costing models that support the pricing of the corporate services catalogue
build the confidence and support of stakeholders, clients and peers to manage diverse and frequently urgent and competing business requests and demand deadlines in a complex, demanding environment of significant change.
To succeed in this role you will need to possess a knowledge of the application of the Government Sector Finance Act 2018, Treasurer's Directions and Australian Accounting Standards, with a broad understanding of relevant Government policies. Expertise in a management reporting, budgeting and finance business partnering role is required, as is knowledge of and demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting principles and practices.
Relevant tertiary qualification and eligibility for membership of a recognised professional accounting body such as CPA Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia is an essential requirement.
