THIS IS A PERMANENT, FULL-TIME POSITION THIS POSITION IS BASED IN GERALDTON APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION CLOSE AT MIDDAY ON MONDAY, 16 FEBRUARY **** Job Description The Murchison District extends along the coast from Dongara in the south to north of Kalbarri then inland to Cue.
The district office is located in Geraldton, with work centres at Kalbarri, Thundelarra, Cue, and Abrolhos Islands.
The lands and waters we manage with our Traditional Owner partners are varied and beautiful, from coastal cliffs, dunes and heath to outback ranges and vast scrublands.
Geraldton boasts a beautiful coastline, a great climate and lifestyle and all of the amenities of a regional city centre.
It is an ideal base for exploring the many spectacular natural and cultural features of the Midwest Region of Western Australia.
We are currently seeking an Operations Officer - Joint Management to join our team.
Day to day work for this role includes preparation and support for joint management body meetings, held in Geraldton and on country; coordinating and documenting JMB and working group meetings, communicating JMB outcomes to, and seeking input from partners; and providing administrative, logistical and operational support for Traditional Owners to lead and direct management of culture and heritage values on the conservation estate in partnership with DBCA.
We are currently seeking an Operations Officer - Joint Management to join our team.
Under the general direction of the Joint Management Coordinator, this position: Provides support to district staff and Traditional Owners on issues relating to the joint management of conservation lands, Aboriginal heritage sites and the protection of Aboriginal heritage.
Facilitates meetings and provides executive support to joint management administration, including fulfilling the executive officer function for joint management meetings.
Engages with staff across all district programs to facilitate effective integration of operations into the district's strategic joint management framework, including meaningful engagement for Aboriginal rangers/trainees.
Facilitates on country trips, workshops, and joint activities to support joint management and operational outcomes.
Assists with the operational delivery of heritage management activities, including cultural mapping in partnership with Traditional Owners.

Selection Criteria Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria.
These should be addressed in no more than four (4) pages in total.
Experience in natural resource management, including land management and planning; with a preference for experience in cultural heritage management, management of conservation reserves, nature conservation, and recreational site management.
Evidence of well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills with experience in effective liaison with external organisations including other government agencies, community, and special interest groups; with a preference for someone with experience working with Aboriginal people.
Experience, knowledge, and skills in leading and managing teams, working effectively as part of a team and independently; and showing a high level of self-motivation.
Evidence of well-developed written report writing skills and demonstrated ability to willingness to develop the ability to use computer software for GIS mapping, data analysis, and database management.
