Behaviour Support Practitioner Job Description

The Behaviour Support Practitioner is a key role in supporting vulnerable members of the community.

* Evaluate, develop and deliver evidence-based support plans that are tailored to meet the individual needs of participants.
* Work collaboratively with family, carers, friends, and other support staff to build the knowledge, capacity, and strengths of those who support participants in their lives.
* Develop meaningful goals and practical strategies utilizing a positive behaviour support framework, with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices.
* Provide advocacy and role modeling for participants, promoting empowerment and independence.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Delivery of high-quality support plans and services that meet the needs of participants.
2. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
3. Capacity building and development of support staff, promoting best practice and ongoing learning.
4. Maintenance of accurate records and reporting as required.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

* Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related field (e.g. psychology, social work, education).
* Proven experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly in a behavioural support context.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
* Highly developed problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
