About The Role
Boyne Smelter (BSL) is a huge and integral part of the Gladstone Industrial Landscape. Within the various maintenance teams, our Metal Products Team is an essential part of our BSL operations, located at the final finishing process to help maintain a clean delivery of our product.
We have an immediate vacancy for our Metal Products Team and are looking for skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance Electricians on a 9-day fortnight roster with possible shift coverage on a Lifestyle roster.
Reporting to the
Maintenance Team Leader
, your role may involve:
Compliance of gas appliances.
Planned maintenance including gas & electric furnaces, casting machines, PLC, instrumentation and other plant equipment.
Some mobile plant maintenance including autonomous forklift equipment.
Execution of planned and unplanned breakdown maintenance.
Troubleshooting, calibrating, repair and service of fixed plant electrical assets.
Working at heights activities.
Working autonomously, being reliable and positively contributing to the maintenance team, understanding the requirement to maintain assets in a safe and reliable condition.
Identifying and implementing improvement initiatives which may involve working with many different disciplines within the organisation.
Promoting and identifying HSE opportunities to improve equipment, processes and behaviours.
Execution of defined primary and secondary scopes from SAP (CMMS).
What You'll Bring

Valid C-class driver's licence.
An Australian 'A' grade electrical licence.
Instrumentation certificate advantageous.
Licence/Experience in type 'B' gas appliances advantageous.
Working at heights/EWP/confined space desirable.
Experienced in planned maintenance including PLC, instrumentation, gas/electric furnaces, casting machines and other plant equipment.
Proven history of fault finding and repairs on various electrical equipment.
Proven maintenance experience working in heavy/industrial industry.

Where you'll be working
Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia's second largest aluminium smelter with a 1,000-person strong workforce. Located approximately 20 km south-east of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum.
Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.
