**YMCA Vocational Schools** provide adjusted education programs and vocational training to secondary students who benefit from an alternative learning environment. With campuses across Brisbane, the school supports students in their journey to employment as they participate in programs dedicated to enhancing practical and personal skills, at a pace that encourages school attendance, engagement and confidence.
We are now recruiting a **Youth Worker (Classroom)** on a **casual** basis to join our **North Lakes Junior** **Campus.**
**ABOUT THE ROLE**
The role of a **Youth Worker (Classroom)** is to support teachers in delivering academic and wellbeing programs to students. Those with experience in **numeracy and literacy** frameworks are encouraged to apply
- Coordinate the delivery of the school's pastoral care and community development program so that student wellbeing needs and attendance targets are met
- Plan and lead wellbeing programs to students
- Support the delivery of vocational training programs offered to students
- Assist in delivering associated programs, services and events offered to young people through the operation of the campus
- Form intentional relationships with young people so that their strengths, passions, interests and unmet needs can be supported appropriately through the operation of the school
- Support and case management of identified students in line with school policies and practice
**SELECTION CRITERIA**
The ideal applicant will hold a genuine passion for assisting young people in understanding their full potential, regardless of their background or individual circumstances. You will thrive in the knowledge that your guidance can impact young people to recognise their true value in a holistic sense and gain fulfilment from seeing them grow into young, empowered adults.
- Hold a Certificate III or above in Youth Work, Community Services or other relevant qualification
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with young people including the ability to communicate appropriately with young people and their families from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Ability and commitment to working with young people using the Strengths Approach and ability to demonstrate non-judgmental, empathic framework
- Be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy and prior experience using a range of office software including Word and Excel Hold a Positive Notice Blue Card, or be willing to obtain
