About the Role
An exciting opportunity for a Senior Tax Accountant is available in our Finance team in Chipping Norton, NSW. This key hands-on role supports compliance with Australian tax legislation and contributes to the business's growth with accurate, timely tax advice and reporting.
Reporting to the Group Tax Manager, the role manages all aspects of the company's taxation obligations and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare all corporate tax returns, including Income Tax, FBT Returns, and R&D Tax Incentive claims, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
Lead the preparation and lodgement of Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) to maintain GST compliance and reconciliation.
Provide expert tax advice on complex transactions and new initiatives to optimise tax efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Maintain tax provisioning per IFRS/AASB standards for monthly, half-yearly, and year-end reporting, including effective tax rate (ETR) analysis.
Serve as primary contact for external tax auditors and advisors, and manage ATO and state revenue queries.
Oversee transfer pricing documentation and related party transactions compliance.
Continuously improve tax processes, controls, and technology utilisation (e.g., SAP) within the finance function.
About You
Strong technical expertise in Australian corporate tax (Income Tax, GST, FBT) with a keen eye for detail.
Minimum five years of experience in a Senior Tax Accountant role within a large commercial setting or a Big Four/Mid-Tier firm.
CPA/CA qualification and/or a relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, or Law.
Practical experience with SAP or a similar large-scale ERP system for financial and tax reporting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain complex tax issues to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines, and lead the tax compliance function with minimal supervision.
A professional, mature, and collaborative approach toward internal teams and external advisors.
