Job Description
The successful candidate will work alongside midwives, doctors, and Aboriginal Health Workers to enhance access to maternity care services for Aboriginal families. They will assist families with referrals, link them to community supports, and support their psycho-social wellbeing through culturally safe, evidence-based practices.
As an AMIC Trainee, you will receive daily supervision, support, and ongoing clinical training from experienced midwives, AMIC Practitioners, and medical officers. You will help develop knowledge and skills around cultural traditions and practices, providing advice and limited clinical care under delegated authority.
Required Skills and Qualifications
We are looking for an individual who currently holds a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice (HLT40213) or is willing to undertake this certification as part of the role. The successful candidate will also need to complete the Maternal and Infant Care Skill Set – Clinical (HLTSS00031) under the Diploma of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (HLT50213).
