A day in the role of a Youth Worker at CatholicCare may include supporting young people to manage challenging behaviours, planning or attending activities and following daily routines to promote life‐skills development. As part of being the young person's role model, you will also complete case notes and admin tasks daily as well as helping to maintain a clean and safe environment.
You will provide 1:1 support to young people aged 12–17. This complex care requires strength, emotional maturity, and the ability to stay calm and consistent – no two days are the same, but every day matters! You'll have a supportive team around you and a Supervisor who is actively involved in your daily support and development.
To be successful in this role, you will be a highly experienced Youth Worker with availability to work across afternoon, night shifts, sleepovers and weekends.
About You
The ideal person for this role would be flexible, adaptable and someone who brings new ideas and is proactive in their approach. Working with young people displaying highly complex and challenging behaviours requires you to build rapport quickly and remain non‐judgmental. This also requires you to have resilience and good professional boundaries. You will be comfortable with computers and completing the admin tasks required. Candidates with transferrable skills from working with vulnerable people who display challenging behaviours are strongly encouraged to apply.

* Supporting life skills, routines and emotional regulation.
* Working as part of a supportive, values‐driven team.
What we are looking for
* Cert IV or Diploma in Community Services or Youth Work.
* Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or trauma is highly valued and will help you succeed in this role.
* Availability to work afternoon, night shifts, sleepovers and weekend shifts.
* Ability to build trust, maintain boundaries, and use behaviour support strategies.
* Excellent report writing and safeguarding practices.
* Hold a valid NSW Driver's Licence + comprehensively insured vehicle.
* Working With Children Check.
* First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
