We're seeking a skilled and proactive Inventory Controller to join our Purchasing team in Chipping Norton. The core purpose of this role is to effectively manage the company's inventory, ensuring a continuous and optimal supply of materials to support our production operations. You'll be crucial in maintaining the integrity of inventory records, liaising with vendors, and implementing processes to minimise costs and maximise working capital.
About The Role
We're seeking a skilled and proactive Inventory Controller to join our Purchasing team in Chipping Norton. The core purpose of this role is to effectively manage the company's inventory, ensuring a continuous and optimal supply of materials to support our production operations. You'll be crucial in maintaining the integrity of our inventory records, liaising with vendors, and implementing processes to minimise costs and maximise working capital.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
Inventory Management: Maintaining optimal inventory levels to support production, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of our inventory management system, and managing stocktakes and cycle counts.
Process Improvement: Assisting with the implementation of new systems and processes to reduce inventory, minimise costs, and maximise working capital.
Coordination & Communication: Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of raw materials and components. This includes liaising with local and overseas suppliers, customs agents, and freight forwarders.
Reporting & Compliance: Preparing regular reports, managing shortages, excess and ageing stock, and ensuring all activities comply with company policies, quality management processes, and OH&S requirements.
About You
You are a highly detail-oriented and experienced inventory professional who excels in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You are proactive, organised, and possess a strong ability to manage priorities and work well under pressure.
To Succeed In This Role, You Will Need
3-5 years' experience in a similar inventory control role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
Sound knowledge of SAP R/3 MM and experience with a warehouse management system (preferably Manhattan Scale).
Advanced Excel skills and strong administrative capabilities.
A high degree of accuracy with close attention to detail.
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise, and effectively manage resources.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills to collaborate with both internal teams and external vendors.
Knowledge of customs import and export procedures, including tariff codes, duty, and general freight terminology.
