Job Description:
Select Carbon is an end-to-end carbon service provider with over a decade of experience working with landholders to develop, manage, and report on carbon farming projects. We offer options for land managers to incorporate carbon projects into their farming practices through a science-based approach, aiming to support climate change mitigation, increase soil and vegetation carbon storage, empower landowners, and strengthen land-based businesses.
As Shell's first acquisition in its Nature-Based Solutions business, Select Carbon invests in agricultural land management, forests, grasslands, wetlands, and other ecosystems globally to reduce emissions, capture CO2, and enhance biodiversity, productivity, and community well-being.
The Role:
The Soil Carbon team possesses expertise in farming systems, agronomy, soil microbiology, precision agriculture, spatial analysis, remote sensing, and soil sampling. The team collaborates with growers and advisors to assess project feasibility, develop management strategies, monitor soil carbon stocks, and ensure compliance with the Soil Carbon Method under the ACCU Scheme.
The successful candidate will serve as the primary contact for growers, advisors, agribusinesses, and regional groups, leveraging their reputation and network to expand the soil program. This leadership role involves business development, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring high-quality project delivery aligned with sustainability and productivity goals.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Business Development: Grow new business and maintain communication with clients.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a reliable source of information for various stakeholders.
- Project Development: Lead the creation of science-based, high-integrity carbon projects.
- Data and Insights: Provide high-quality data and analysis to support decision-making.
- Relationship Management: Build effective relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners.
- Team Leadership: Support and lead the Soil Carbon team, set priorities, and communicate effectively.
What You Bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Agribusiness, Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Soil Science, or related field.
- Experience in Project Management or Business Development is highly valued.
- Driver's license with 4WD experience and first aid training (training provided).
- Extensive experience in mixed farming and agribusiness sectors.
- Strong network within the industry and trust-building skills.
- Knowledge of carbon farming, the ACCU Scheme, and sustainable practices.
- Willingness to travel regionally.
- Proven ability to implement practice changes to enhance productivity and sustainability.
