About Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre
Are you looking for a teaching career that really makes a difference? An exciting opportunity exists for an innovative and experienced Visual Arts teacher to join our team at the Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre (BYETC), located at Wacol in Brisbane's western suburbs. BYETC delivers educational programs for up to 162 remanded and sentenced young people at the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre.
BYETC students have diverse learning needs and a significant majority have had disrupted or negative schooling experiences. We seek to address this by supporting students to close individual learning gaps and attain vocational skills leading to qualifications.
To maintain the engagement of students across the year BYETC operates an extended school year. Whilst many teachers work a regular school leave others take their leave at different points in the year to support the school to provide instruction across 48 weeks. Through negotiation with the Head of Campus, the successful applicant will determine whether a regular or an alternative school holiday model is accessed.
